London – Tate Britain – William Blake
Millbank, Westminster, London SW1P 4RG
William Blake, this classic British painter, printmaker and poet’s wonderful collection highlights some of his most iconic images and work from across his lifetime.
Ahead of his time, with controversial ideas, Blake wooed the crowds both then and now, Incorporating his personal struggles and experiences into his work. The show brings his vision alive and by sharing his experiences and his political stance, a picture of the artist himself is brought back to life.
Some of Blakes original pieces that were first shown in 1809, still stand the test of time, real, gritty and diverse images, in watercolours, paint and print provide real insight into this classis British Artists mind.
Apparently as the “the largest show of Blake’s work for almost 20 years” this talented and creative artists work is thankfully shared with a new generation. Wonderful.
A must-see exhibition, ends 2nd February 2020
