Leigh Bowery - Looks
Michael Hoppen Gallery, 3 Jubilee Place, Chelsea, London SW3 3TD
This small but perfectly formed photography exhibition highlights just a snap shot of the wonderful world of Leigh Bowery (1961-1994) an amazing force to ne reckoned with for his own time.
Club kid, party socialite, performance artist, fashion designer and 80s fashion Icon who was massive on the London Club and art scene throughout the 1980s and who would often be seen out and about at all of London’s trendiest and hippest clubs of that period, steadying the ground for what would today be know as an ‘Influencer’.
From art, music, film and fashion LB conquered it all, even modelling for some of Lucian Freud’s most iconic nude paintings. Peer at just a small sample of Leighs truly amazing costumes and creations from a designer that was without a doubt way ahead of his time.
“Over 15 photographs that showcase the outcome of Bowery’s collaboration with British photographer, Fergus Greer, between 1988 and 1994, the year Bowery passed away”.
This gorgeous collection of beautiful portrait photographs, in both vivid colour and B/W depict this fabulous and unique artist in all his stunning and creative glory.
