Musée Yves Saint Laurent – Paris
5 Avenue Marceau, 75116 Paris
This beautiful Yves Saint Laurent Museum opened in 2017 and goes from strength to strength, sharing some of the designer’s most prolific garments from dresses to accessories, original sketches and mesmerising photographs in this wonderful and chic exhibition space.
“Housed in a Second Empire mansion, in which the designer’s teams worked for 30 years. Highlights include the reception rooms formerly open to clients, more than 5,000 prototype dresses prototypes and the Studio, the nerve centre where all the collections were designed”.
The exhibition is easily managed and should only take an hour to navigate the two floors and the faun over the stunning haute couture creations associated with the YSL brand.
There’s even an enticing room packed to the gills with original sketches, chalk drawings, garment samples, hair decorations, broaches, buttons, private notes and stunning photos of historical fittings. On the first floor is the studio which sets the scene and sums up the house’s history perfectly.
See the inspiration and how it grew for his iconic and popular 1970s perfume too, Opium and how he crafted and promoted it with love, around the world.
Classy, romantic and dazzling all words that sum up this collection and YSL himself a master, an innovator and an Icon.
See this amazing exhibition until 27th January 2019.
