Newport Street Gallery – Gavin Turk - Who What When Where How & Why
Newport Street, Lambeth, London SE11 6AJ
A quirky, fun and colourful exhibition named, Who What When Where How and Why’ offers both new and previously uninhibited pieces
Turk is a relatively new artist (arriving on the art scene in the early 90s) his varied works blend both everyday objects with contemporary art pieces by famous artists from across the twentieth-century such as Pollock and of course, Warhol.
The show features some of the work Turk has already become known for, such as the blue plaque, Hello Magazine and some of his pieces first shown in the Saatchi Gallery’s ‘Young British Artist’ exhibition in 1995.
Turks obsession with celebrity icons is quite evident and his depiction of them fascinating, making him the choice of other artists alike, pop culture at its best.
The show runs from 23 November 2016 – 19 March 2017
