Situated right in the heart of London’s West End, apparently he Getty Image gallery is London’s largest Independent photographic gallery, and contains part of the International Getty Image collection which is made up of millions of photographic images that can be drawn on at any time, some even dating back as far as 1850.
The in-house exhibition on display when we visited was called ‘Soho’ and it highlighting scenes and the mood of how Soho has developed over a hundred years, from its humble beginnings as part of Mayfair & Fitzrovia, through the rough times of the times of seedy sex clubs to now, with its cool cafes, bars and trendy gay clubs linking time, sex, music and fashion.
From iconic landmarks to iconic faces such as David Bowie, there is plenty to feast your eyes on, creating the mood over time.
The Soho exhibition is only on for a short run, however, don’t despair all photographs are available to buy and there’s even a research function that allows you to search through the whole Getty collections for something you may really love and even want to buy
