82 Portraits and 1 Still-life
David Hockney, British artist and 1960s pop art artist of the 1960s has returned with this spectacular showing of his latest collection of work at the RAA, 82 Portraits and 1 Still-life.
What feels like a very intimate collection of portraits offering a sneaky peek into David’s personal life of friends, close family and a few celebrities too and all painted over a 2 year period in his LA studio
The 82 portraits and 1 still life (apparently one sitter didn’t show, so he painted what he found lying around the studio that day) are all of the same size frame and feature all sitters perched on the same studio chair, however, each and every painting tells a different story and exudes its own slice of life.
