Urban Art 2016
Josephine Avenue SW2 2LA, Brixton, London
Unbelievably it’s Urbans 15th Year! This gives testament to its on-going success.
All the art shown is for sale and is displayed along the wrought iron railings and central street boards that adorn Brixtons tree lined crescent, Josephine Avenue.
Urban Art is an annual event and if you didn’t make it this year, then get it in your diary for next year, it’s a must! Held over 2 days on a Saturday and Sunday, usually on the SECOND weekend of July, you’re spoilt for choice, art is everywhere and its FREE entry too.
It runs from around 10am to 6pm on both days, come rain or shine and even if you don’t happen to buy any of the art work (direct from the artists themselves) it’s a lovely day out meandering around appreciating the amazing work that’s on offer and It’s not just paintings either, work also includes printmaking, photography, mixed media and even Street Art, Oh, & there’s international food on offer too. So, if you are looking for something different there’s plenty to choose from, whatever your budget.
The Street Art area is especially cool, you can watch giant plain white canvas’s transform into amazingly crafted graffiti pieces right in front of your eyes.
If you missed this year’s event 2016, there always next year but don’t fret, you can still get to see the 9 giant street art works, which are situated outside the Ritzy Cinema in central Brixton (Windrush Square) for the next two week and they are all excellent!
