Whitney Museum of American Art - New York

99 Gansevoort St, New York, NY 10014, United States

A brand new museum devoted to the art of the United States. Twentieth-century and contemporary American art for all to see (with a special focus on works by living artists).

The Whitney is dedicated to collecting, preserving, interpreting and exhibiting American art.

The building is simplistically designed by architect Renzo Piano and situated between the High Line and the Hudson River, so the location is perfect for a taste of some classic American culture before heading out for a brisk (or relaxed) walk along the newly extended highline walkway.

I (F) wasn’t that impressed with the museum building itself, however, the location is fabulous, its smack bang in the middle of the Uber Hip Meat Packing District. From the museums terrace you have amazing views over NYC, the highline & the river . Have a drink or a bite to eat in the very stylish restaurant to enjoy those killer views and the museum shop in the lobby is a must!.

Alright (why not!)
