Unit s38 Pop Brixton, 89 Brixton Station Road, London SW9 8PQ
Roe equals seafood dreams and very good dreams at that! Located in South London’s top foodie heaven, Pop Brixton, one of the capitals ‘first’ purpose built food and entertainment villages made entirely from disused and renovated shipping containers.
With space for only 32 diners you had better be quick and book early, its ‘really’ worth it. It has one long communal table that runs the length of the container, so be prepared to be cosy, however, this makes the atmosphere more like a group of friend eating together, than a stuffy restaurant with no atmosphere, the atmosphere here is just great!
There’s even a small outside terrace that takes walk-ins, which is probably great on those slightly warmer evenings.
The menu is perfect if you don’t like to be daunted, straight forward and offers small and large plates, reasonably priced and full of tasty options. Beautiful looking dishes are brought out that receive suitable lip-licking reactions, we decided to order the whole of the starter choices as the combinations were amazing and few extras and we were not disappointed, Delicious fresh oysters, pan-fried ray wing, cuttlefish ink arancini, spiced pollock and their Guinness soda bread accompanied with butter that’s whipped with smoked cod roe was stunning
The suitably fruity sparkling, organic wines and the craft beers all helped the dishes along smoothly and made for the perfect dinner, can’t complain about any of it and it wasn’t just the wine that was bubbly, the serving staff were just the cherry on the cake.
Don’t miss out, book immediately, highly recommended by www.ificould.co.uk
