10 Heddon Street, Mayfair, London W1B 4BX
Magpie can be found just off Regent Street on the little restaurant and bar haven that is Heddon Street.
Recently opened by the team that also owns Pidgin in Hackney, this more relaxed and informal establishment has everything its counterpart Pidgin has, but in a much more informal setting.
Bringing the perfect selection of small sharing plates (you will be spoilt for choice) you can completely enjoy your time working your way through all of them (there aren’t too many).
There are also some larger plates to choose from, it really just depends on how hungry you feel but the fact that there are options, also scores points.
The beef short-rib with red cabbage and fried gnocchi was delicious, followed by the aptly named ‘birthday cake’ dessert with white chocolate crumble was a complete success at our table.
Overall, Magpie’s was cool, relaxed, approachable and informal, offering delicious combinations of food and attentive, helpful and chatty staff.
Couldn’t fault it, it’s very different from its sister-bird restaurant but for all of the right reasons.
