NAC (North Audley Cantine)
41 North Audley Street, Mayfair, London W1K 6ZP
The North Audley Cantine (NAC) feels like a game of two halves, with the immediate front area of the restaurant offering a calm and relaxed local vibe, with an all-white simplistic decor, cool contemporary light fixtures, leather bound seating and cosy candle-lit tables, whereas the rear part of the restaurant, through the large white arch, feels more bistro meets cocktail bar, with higher bar stools and tasteful matching pendant lighting.
The menu provides decent sized sharing plates, bread served in brown stripy paper bags with home patted butter and a wide selection of mouth-watering dishes.
Munch your way through plates such as the spicy breaded popcorn shrimp with red cabbage, fried plantain, fresh tuna niçoise salad, mouth-watering seared scallops with roasted butternut squash, or go larger with the classy and flavoursome truffle burger served with delicious hand-cut fries, or the utterly tender New York strip served with an eye-watering black peppercorn sauce.
There’s a generous cheese platter, a decent selection of quality wines, flat and sparkly and the ultimate selection in naughty desserts such as home-made chocolate dipped profiteroles, madeleine cakes or dark chocolate tart with hazelnut ice cream.
Downstairs, there’s a lounge/bar that hots up later on, offering a cool retro-chic vibe, so dance off the decadence and dance into the night.
