Mae + Harvey

414 Roman Road, London E3 2RZ

Mae + Harvey’s small but perfectly formed cafe (by day) and pop up restaurant (by night) is located right on the on Roman Road, East London and just a 10 minute bus ride down from Bethnal Green tube station.

Chef hosts vary on a weekly basis and the evening we attended was an authentic Chinese night with a twist (they also do Taco and Laska nights too).

Ling Ling Friday was the name of our evenings, which consisted of a selection of delicious tapas sized plates, stunning chinses staples Inspired by both Cantonese and some Vietnamese cuisine and all re-worked and modernised bringing all dishes bang up to date.

As part of the set menu (there are other options which also take in all allergies and special food requirements) the evening started with a delicious cocktail (based on the spirit of your choice) or locally sourced wine + beers followed by various courses of small plates of tasty heaven (crispy fresh pickled vegetables, bok choy, chicken and/or prawn won ton and piled up glass flavoursome glass noodles) we were told that the menu was inspired by the old classic dishes, updated with new ingredients to expand and play on original flavours and it certainly did that.

Apart from the restaurant choices they also offer delicious pastries, artisan breads, tasty cakes & a variety ground coffee (all from local suppliers Breadstation.and All Press).

Mae + Harvey is cute little space that works well for small groups of family and friends, a small venue that packs a punch and does really good food and is worth a visit.
