Booma

244 Brixton Road, London SW9 6AH

A splendid new little Indian restaurant, placed right on Brixton Road (just 8 minutes outside of Brixton’s main towns centre). A lovely, light and contemporary space with an open kitchen, big windows and really lovely and friendly staff to make your visit all that bit more memorable.

There’s a reason this place was so packed, the food was exceptional! The restaurant describes itself as “a new concept in the coming together of delicious Indian food and great craft beer” and it certainly did that, each dish was paired with its perfect combination beer (you don’t have to have its pair but it’s what they would recommend) and if you don’t like the recommendation, you can just keep sampling options until you find your perfect preference.

And now for the food; ‘amazing’ Northern Indian style food cooked via a traditional tandoor oven, its busting with flavour but not overtly spicy, and in their own words ‘it’s flavours are delicate and delicious’.

There’s a selection of fourteen food dishes (with vegetarian choices as well) with ten beer choices and every single dish we tried was gorgeous, the ribs were so succulent they just fell off the bone; the Lamb Chops were melt in the mouth and the the duck dish was a revelation!

What we really thought was a nice touch, was that you could order you’re beer in various different sizes, just to taste or to down (or both!) the food plates came in small portions (so you can try as many dishes as you fancied dishes) and the on-the-house poppadum’s with the spicy tomato, spiced mango and tamarind dressing were delectable and all at a really affordable price range, so yes, we can’t think of a bad word to say about it, we are already planning our next visit, go try it, it’s not your everyday Indian flavours, which is a bonus in our book.
