Nightjar

129 City Road, London EC1V 1JB

Nightjar older sister to younger sibling Oriole Bar in Smithfield. Nightjar is a cool retro style speakeasy joint, just off the Old Street roundabout and right on the doorstep of Shoreditch (watch out for the entrance though is completely hidden away).

Definitely a destination bar (that also serves selection of small tapas plates) with the most amazing and original cocktails you can imagine (the wow factor was in abundance) and once your inside you can’t help feel your part of the 1920/30s,with its retro-twist décor and live bands playing everything from Jazz to swing.

Please note, its seating only at The Nightjar, so make sure you book a table ‘way in advance’ as you really don’t want to be disappointed.

The staff is great here too, very friendly, attentive and fun, making your whole experience more special and more personal.

Our visit saw a great little funky jazz band called ‘The Top Shelf’ who performed two fabulous set as we sipped on amazing cocktail after amazing cocktail and swooned at the presentation of all of them as them were delivered. A small charge is added to your bill for the live band which in our case was worth every penny.

Enjoy, if you like something a little different then you will really love this place, its tops.
