Forge & Co

154-158 Shoreditch High St, London E1 6HU

We just stumbled across this multi-use 1950s building on Shoreditch High Street (restaurant, bar, venue for hire, social working space etc.) on our way out and we were happy we did.

We only went for pre- drinks (and sat on their lovely oversized bar sofas) but there was also a really nice (simple) little informal restaurant with a menu that took inspiration from the grills of early 20th Century America (cooked by their head chef Timothy Brindley, formerly of Tom’s Kitchen and The Ivy).

But the best bit was the brilliant in-house DJ spinning soulful tunes all night in the bar, so we didn’t want to leave but we would go back, especially if he was playing there again!

They don’t have a late license as yet (it’s that new) so it closes at 11:00pm but were sure it will come soon.
