Split - Uje Oil Bar
Dominisova ul. 3, 21000, Split, Croatia
A beautiful restaurant, in the heart of old town split, away from the hustle and bustle and a lot more popular with the locals than tourists (which is exactly what we like!) Apparently opening in 2013 it immediately earned its stripes with local food critics.
This simply stylish, rustic, comfortable, charming and welcoming restaurant was a joy to eat in, with fabulous staff that explained every inch of their wonderful menu, making informed recommendations as they went along.
Offering traditional Croatian fayre with a modern twist and large sections of their menu based on their local olive oil (he restaurant is also an olive oil/delicatessen shop) and flavours that compliment each other perfectly, your experience will be perfect with seafood, meat, fresh local vegetables choices and even an offer of their famous ice cream made with the delicious Croatian olive oil.
We took a table outside in the adorable Split lanes and cobbled streets for the full Croatian culinary experience, we’d suggest going for a selection of their tapas-style dishes, and olive-oil tasting options, so you get to experience a lot more of their menu, however, there are also traditional main sized plates if you prefer that style of eating, either way is fine.
Should you be happy with what you have eaten, there is also an option to buy some of their beautiful products such as the Croatian olive oils, olive tapenade, chocolates or Croatian wines or even a variety of their quirky kitchen accessories like serving bowls or chopping boards (all made from olive tree wood).
