Paris: Le Mary Celeste
1 Rue Commines, 75003 Paris, France
Adorable, yes, adorable, cosy little Seafood inspired restaurant located in the heart of the beautiful Marais district in central Paris.
Having only opened in 2013, it grows in popularity and reputation on a daily basis and rightly so! And apparently named after the merchant ship that was famously found during mysterious circumstance in late nineteenth century.
The simple light and bright interiors work really well in this tiny and cute space, setting the scene in readiness to sample their wonderful choices of fresh and delicious wild oysters, picked directly from the front of house oyster cages placed prominently across the bar top. The oysters were listed by region and sold seasonally by the piece in groups 2-5 and the selection we had (recommended by the maître d) were just were stunning!
Their wine list (and cocktail program) didn’t disappoint either, on recommendation, we had the light and refreshing Champagne to accompany our Oysters which worked a treat.
We loved this adorable, little local seafood and champagne restaurant (it’s not just Seafood they also cater for Vegetarians, check out the menu) with its big windows and cosy round bar area and we hope you do too, couldn’t fault it, we are going back as its now one of our favourite go to’s in Paris!
