Camera A Sud

Via Valdonica, 5, 40126 Bologna, Italy

This totally ‘cool’ but understated restaurant/café/bar that blew us away, it was right up our ally and we fell in love with it immediately. The effortless vintage/retro vibe was super cool (but not in a horrible pretentious way atall). You know when some places just have it! well Camera A Sud just did!!!

We just stumbled on it whilst strolling around and investigating the back street of the city (as we always do!) Located in the centre of the Jewish quarter and just two minutes’ walk from the beautiful but scary giant towers, the interiors are just simply amazing.

Beautiful miss-matched and eclectic retro furniture, original vintage wooden counter tops, a bar out of the 40’s, individual vintage tables to sit at (no two the same) and that octopus! winding its way across the walls like it owned the place was just enthralling.

The menu was full with plenty to choose from (the eco burgers were to die for) offering brunch, lunch and dinner, where you can even sample the curated dishes of the day accompanied by a wide selection of fabulous local wines.

This place is a great meeting place, with books upon books adorning the walls, large relaxing armchairs and comfy vintage sofas and there’s even a DJ at weekends spinning tunes on the ever so cool retro stereo player. And, if you don’t want to sit inside (the best bit!) you can always grab a table (if you’re lucky) right outside on the quiet front patio and enjoy the heat of the Italian nights.

If you can, don’t miss this beautifully thought out café, it’s a laid back stunner and the narrow streets that surround it are just perfect to add to your perfect Bologna experience.
