12 Tithebarn Street, Liverpool L2 2DT

A beautifully designed and atmospheric space that we would highly recommended. HUS (house in Swedish) offers the true feel of a modern and cool Scandinavian café, bar and restaurant.

This Scandinavian inspired social space, sits nicely in what is known as Liverpool’s commercial district and hotly rumoured to be the next big foodie area in town. This bright, light and very, very stylish venue captures the Scandinavian experience to a tee, without even having to leave the city.

Based in the impressive Tempest Building (you can’t miss it, a 5 foot Tempest sign sits directly outside the front door) there’s a seated courtyard area right up front, an entrance covered in green plants and a music and events space down in the basement (KOLBOX, apparently free to hire).

Inside the main space, there are high tables, low tables, sofas and booths and the bar runs the length of the back wall, offering light beers (local and international) cocktails, soft drinks and hot drinks and a selection of Scandinavian treats from Smorgasbord (freshly made Open sandwiches) to Swedish meatballs, seven days a week.

We fell in love with this place, the minute we walked through the door, understated design, food and drinks but an overstated effect, taste and vibe. Don’t miss it for a lunch stop over or drinks into the evening.
