The Stanley Arms

St Michael Road, Aughton, Ormskirk L39 6SA

If you love traditional country pubs that serve ‘good wholesome county pub grub’ then you’re in for a treat.

The original part of the Stanley Arms Pub has been traced back to the 17th century and is set in the stunning countryside and village of Aughton on the outskirts of Liverpool.

“The pub was built after a smaller 'ale house' called The Ring O'Bells was demolished to enlarge the beautifully peaceful graveyard at St Michaels Church, right next door” and was also the site for Aughton’s very first Post Office.

Apparently the Stanley's cellar also houses the resident ghost nicknamed 'ollie' after Oliver Cromwell but you won’t need to go down there unless you really want to!

Don’t fear when it comes to the food, there will be none of this small plate malarkey, the plates are big , packed, tasty and very really reasonably priced, let’s put it this way, you ‘will not’ be going home hungry or skint!

The Stanley Arms Pub will offer you a quintessential country setting, an oldie worldly feel, lovely and friendly local staff, great quality locally sourced food (the pub is surrounded by farms) a great choice of beers and a very warm atmosphere, what’s not to like!
